By grouping you mean set a rowspan ?
You can set the rowspan of cell using the cellTable api :
public void setRowSpan(final int row, final int column, final int
rowSpan) {
cellTable.getRowElement(row).getCells().getItem(column).setRowSpan(rowSpan);
}
