I would also use cookies, but be careful as the cookie info is send back and forward to the server, so don't put too much info in it. I do the same. Start another gwt app with info in the cookie. I do this because with code-splitting the left over is getting too big such that I have to split my gwt app's in separate gwt apps instead.
