The FAQ is a bit outdated. Firefox 1.0 is no longer supported as of GWT 2.1.1. I can't tell whether Firefox 1.5 and 2.0 are still officially supported, but their code path is the same as for all other Firefox versions.
Firefox 6 is supported (the developer plugin has recently been updated, the "missing plugin" page will reflect it soon); it has caused no regression compared to Firefox 5 or even 4. Also, IE9 is supported since GWT 2.3; and I believe only the latest version of Opera is officially supported (which is 11.51, and not 9 as the FAQ says).
