It should be verticalPanel.setWidth("100%"); But check to see if all the
parent widgets are 100% too. Maybe you're trying to use another widget?
I'll set a borders on the widgets to see what is going.
verticalPanel.addStyleName("test1"); and .test { border:1px solid #FF0000; }
