ive read, that vaadin should care for the code and support. my experience with google stuff is, that they like to make things running, but they left the community/crowd with it. it depends on feedback. google-code or git-hub nice and easy, but who will paint the red line from a to b ... thats a real question. iam looking forward, as eventbus, mvp and other stuff is implemented now ... try sencha/extgwt ... u will like it, the support is additionally nice too, even in community behalfs so far ...
