Hi, 1.) You can't create profiles using the API. However, you can go into the Health UI (google.com/health) and create profiles manually. There's a 'Create a new profile' link at the bottom of the left navbar.
2.) What sorts of modifications are you hoping to do? ClientLogin allows for just about any modification but should only be used with installed applications. For web apps, AuthSub/OAuth allow for GETs and POSTs.
