Your point is well taken.  EMR connecting to Google Health is the
intention of the developers of Google Health; but at this time there
are some barriers.  In this community most people either dont know
about, dont care about, or dont trust storing their medical records
online.  An intermediate form of storage would give people the
opportunity to get acclimated to this digital medical revolution.
With such a device they can have their medical records "in hand"
before they choose to commit to Google Health.
On the other hand, it will allow physicians who have not partnered
with Google Health for one reason or another (that includes most docs
that I know), to give patients a digital copy of their medical
record.  In my opinion such a device would help bridge the gap that
currently exists between a very good service and the people whom the
service is intended for.
