Thanks for the post, currently we use square brackets in that format
for applying tags to multiple calendar events for devices that don't
support categories. That is why the square brackets are removed from
your event subject lines. We are currently looking at ways to stop
this happening without messing up the way that it works for users that
choose to use tags.
For the moment if you change the the format of your reference number,
i.e, user other type of brackets { or ( or don't use any brackets.
Another way would be to move the reference number with square brackets
to the end of the subject line as the code only recognizes a tag if
the first character of the subject line is an opening square bracket.
We will keep you up to date on any changes to this.
