Hi Andrew GooSync doesn't run on Windows or Linux, it is a totally web based sync solution. So all you need is a browser such as IE (maybe not if you hate MS) or Firefox and a compatible mobile device.
The only software involved is for PALM or Windows Mobile Devices. We have a free client that you can install on these devices that allow them to sync. Then you perform the sync from your mobile device and it connects over the air to the GooSync server which talks to Google Calendar and your sorted.
