Yeah, looks like it can't be added on the device itself. If I'm honest I knew that would be the case.
Is there a way that goosync can look at the data on Gcal and parse it into a number of individual entries? In my case, take the repeating entry - first Wed of each month - and apply a single event on the first Wed of each month for the sync period? It would be very useful.
