Sounds like a router problem, not the OS. Go into your router
configuration using a web browser and the url http://192.168.1.1 or
http://192.168.0.1 and see that DHCP is enabled. If your other
computers can connect then there shouldn't be a problem for GOS.
You can always change this later. Perhaps you may need to update your
router firmware as well. See the mfgr's website.
