My system stopped being able to read some png files that are on the
disk. If I look at a webpage, the files display fine but some that
are physically on the disk, I get the error. However some thumbnails
display correctly.

I enabled images in Evo and the same result. Emails will only display
some images with the png files showing up as a question mark. Looked
in the cache and the png files are there but when I try to open them,
same error.

I first noticed this when Gimp said that an image was corrupt.

What is strange is that it is only some the png files that are being
reported as corrupt. Some of them being the default Gmome icons and
it only happens in certain programs. Gimp, image viewer,
Evo.......but doesn't affect Firefox or Thunderbird. If I take an
email in evolution that had broken images and save it as an HTML file,
firefox will display it correctly and Thunderbird never has a problem
with the same email. If I open an image that image viewer can't
handle with Firefox, it displays correctly.

If I clean out the Evo cache and try again, same result so it doesn't
seem to be that one instance of that image is corrupt because it
repeats.

I haven't had any problems with any other corrupt files so I am ruling
out hardware issues......correct me if I am wrong. I am leaning
toward the Evolution data server having an issue but not sure where to
go from there.

Hoping to not have to reinstall..........Want someone to point me to
the "Fix png file" button that I can't find ;-)
