Hi All- I recently purchased a Sylvania G, which was pre-loaded with the gOS distribution. I'm a picky and knowledgeable Linux user, and I wasn't terribly happy with the version of Escape Pod that came with the laptop, so- I installed Xubuntu using PXE.
Well, I'm starting to think that as gOS matures, it might be a good idea to load it on my laptop since it will support this type of hardware much better than a mainstream distro can (Ubuntu, Fedora). The only thing is, I don't own a external cd/dvd reader, and affording one won't be on the horizon for a while. However, if gOS supported a PXE install feature, that would do the trick for me and many other netbook owners who want to experience the new version of the software. Are the gOS developers planning on adding this feature anytime soon, or is it already available and I'm just blind? -Amin Astaneh PS: I wrote a quick and dirty software package to facilitate the PXE process given another linux computer and several Perl modules: http://github.com/aastaneh/easypxe/tree/master It might be useful for some people who want to get their hands dirty without having to install and configure tftpd and dhcpd. --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "gOS Linux" group.
