I've done just what you did by setting up gOS 3 final on an old laptop
for my mom.  It's a decent Dell Latitude C610 and so far so good.
Wireless with the Netgear WG511 card works fine after figuring out the
WEP key had to be entered with capital letters (aaargh!), but I'm not
finding any info about dial-up.  From the reply I see gOS doesn't
support dial-up which is just crazy.  My mom only wants to surf the
web and check email and for the most part this should be a better
experience than her former setup with XP on an even older Toshiba
laptop.

If anyone can provide info about getting this configured, I'd
appreciate it.
