Thank you for the reply, I have a relative coming to visit me this week and
I hope he can show me how to the CD writer which is on the computer that I
inherited from my son. If I can do that, that sounds like the simplest. He
is an IT guy and will probably understand all the info I have collected. I
would really like to try the gOS 3 and gradually learn to use it.

Once again, I thank you for your patience. I will read the wikepedia article
in any event.

If you want to boot gOS (or any other OS, including Windows) from a
flash drive you need to make the flash drive bootable, then copy the
contents of the Live_CD  (or just the contents of the downloaded .ISO
file) to it. To make it bootable, you can use "Unetbootin" , see this
wikipedia article.

By the way, you also need to do this to install Windows.
