Hello all. I'm running gOS Linux on an Acer Extensa 4420 with a Windows (Vista) partition, a few mountable drives, and a gOS partition. I have already installed gOS, gone through OEM config (during install) and got gOS up and running, but I do not have wireless and I do not have a printer. There is a common workaround for the printer, so I will just print to PDF and then insert the document in one of my mountable drives. However, I need to get wireless working ASAP, since have a project for PSY 263 coming up and I want to run my presentation out of my Linux partition, internet included. (My project does not require internet but I want to help spread gOS by advertising it in front of my class at the end of all presentations and passively while presenting).
I have tried to install NDISWrapper (I have 1.53), but I have run into the computer equivalent of a star destroyer every step along the way. I have tried to access OEM config but I cannot find it on the menu. Does anyone have experience installing NDISWrapper? can anyone tell me how to do it? Also, can you help me get Broadcomm's Network Adapter Driver working in NDISWrapper (I use Network Adapter 6 in Vista and I am planning to copy the files over to the Linux partition once I get NDISWrapper working...). If I can select a driver from the OEM config, does anyone know how to reopen it without having to nuke and then reinstall the partition? I have important files that I want to keep (namely a manuscript for a book). Does anyone know how to get OEM config back and then get Broadcomm Network Adapter to work? I really like Linux. The last time I installed a Linux on my system (the old one, not the Extensa), it was a Puppy "Dancer" and I really liked it. Too bad I am so curious I had to play around with GTParted and mess up my partitioning table. Once bitten, twice shy, I've learned my lesson. If anyone has access to the information I am requesting, I would like a sincere reply.
