Which Ubuntu? gOS 3 is based on Ubuntu 8.04, if Ubuntu 8.04 does not support it chances are that gOS 3 won't either. That said, it seems gOS did do some improvements themselves, because i have heard many time that gOS worked (the xserver video worked) on machines where Ubunto (or other distro's) did not work on.
But in the end "the proof of the pudding is in eating it", you just have to run the Live_CD and see if gOS picks up your SiS Video card.
