i vaguely remember an option somewhere to switch on manual ip address,
but now i can't find it, so let's try this:

connect to your network, then open a terminal window and type:

sudo iwconfig

(you will be asked for your password).

You will (should) get an answer like:

----start---
lo no wireless extensions.

eth0 no wireless extensions.

wmaster0 no wireless extensions.

wlan0 IEEE 802.11g ESSID:"[your network]" Nickname:""
          Mode:Managed Frequency:2.412 GHz Access Point: 00:1D:6A:D5:2E:9B
          Bit Rate=54 Mb/s Tx-Power=27 dBm
          Retry min limit:7 RTS thr:off Fragment thr=2346 B
          Encryption key:[WATCH_OUT_YOUR_PASSWORD_IS_HERE_TAKE_IT_OUT]
          Power Management:off
Link Quality=64/100 Signal level=-68 dBm Noise level=-90 dBm
Rx invalid nwid:0 Rx invalid crypt:0 Rx invalid frag:0
          Tx excessive retries:0 Invalid misc:0 Missed beacon:0
-----end---

We're interested in that last bit - pay attention: see where i wrote
"[WATCH_OUT_YOUR_PASSWORD_IS_HERE_TAKE_IT_OUT]" - don't forget to take
it out
Regs,
/t
