In my other post, the gOS 2.6.24.21 was demaged, so I was ranning
2.6.24.19, waiting for advise to fix that part. While trying to make
2.6.24.19 I mess up something else.

I have download and compile a patched verison of the alsa-driver
1.0.16 to enable the headphone.
It seems that every time I try to do something about some drivers in
the sytem, the alsa-driver was affected. To correct it, I have to go
through the re-compile steps.

I downloaded and install a webcam driver, the headphone feature
disappear. I though the alsa-driver was compiled before, so I just
ran sudo make install from the source code folder and a ln -s command
to link the driver to the lib/modules/..../sound folder. Now the
volume control is grey out and claims there is no device to control.
Re-run the compilation steps, or just install alsa-driver by synaptic
fail. How can I get the alsa-driver working again?
