Hi Mike!

This is one of those cases where the manufacturer has not supported
Linux, but has supported "the other operating system". Accordingly, if
a driver is going to be produced, it is up to one being back
engineered: however, there is an active project to do just that, and
you can find details at
http://rtl-wifi.sourceforge.net/wiki/Installing#Debian.2FUbuntu

The project hasn't yet issued any packages, but they have a listing in
Subversion where you can obtain the latest code.  Some of it has been
incorporated into newer kernels, and will work "out of the box" but for
users who do not have those kernels, their distros will not be able to
connect out of the box - not just gOS, but any Linux distribution.

Instructions on how to get and install the latest code is on the
