I spoke to Jing by private email, he said his entry
point to gossip was the "Where can I get support?"
entry on the FAQ - despite the massive warnings right
in that FAQ entry.

My conclusion is that there is massive pent-up demand
for Tomcat support throughout the world, and there is
no way to avoid the shrapnel. I've already told gossip's
list server to bounce anything that has the word "jakarta"
or "tomcat" in the subject line. If people have specific
suggestions, let me know, but I can't think of anything.
If some entrepreneur wanted to start a business supporting
Tomcat, I think they might do quite well.

In related news, Mail-Archive processing performance has
been incredible. Right now there is about one hour of
mail in queue in the processing backlog. That's typical for
evening, and weekday daytime might rise to a couple of hours.
We appear to be at equalibrium with these numbers. This is soooo
much better than the previous situation, where we had 140+ hours
of backlog and rising. It's possible Mail-Archive lost some
users during the outage, but I think most of the difference
is due to tuning changes made to the disk I/O system. I'm
delighted, and this lets Mail-Archive go back to the all
critical "don't think about it, it just works" mode of
operation. That's super important from my perspective.

Spam has been interesting. Honeypot addresses (including those
by unfortunate real life users) definitely are picking up
harvesting activity, but I have high hopes that the full-on
address censoring and new per-IP address rate limiting in the
web server will soon starve the spambots out completely. I also
noticed that at least one spammer is forging return addresses
with my personal email; they appear to be sending Korean spam
to Korean addresses, and I end up getting the bounces. Overall
I think the world spam environment is getting worse, but suspect
that Mail-Archive's countermeasures have gotten better, faster.

What else? I'll probably make one more trip out to the colocation
facility to install an additional cooling fan on the main server
just because I am paranoid. Other than that, Mail-Archive looks
like it has capacity to run for a while without baby sitting.
