I have good news for you: you can run multiple versions of Python side-by-side without any issue whatsoever. A quick Google search brought this up: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/32811713/is-it-ok-to-install-both-python-2-7-and-3-5 So you should be able to install Python 2.7 for Gourmet without creating conflicts for other apps that might use newer versions of Python.
