Yes, it is possible.
I have the recipes in a centralized MySQL database.
Then, on Ubuntu, I edit the following file:
/usr/share/applications/gourmet.desktop
Line 78 holds the Exec command that will lauch the application. I change that
to: Exec=gourmet --database-url=mysql://user:password@serverurl/databasename
where user, password, serverurl and databasename are the items you change to
fit your configuration.
