No one should lose a job over freedom of thought, especially one that has thousands and thousands of years of almost universal support from every culture on the planet. So he sent $1000 bucks to Prop 8, a proposition most people in California supported. Fired for support of traditional marriage... ugh. Did we all fall asleep and wake up in Orwell's "1984"?
Mozilla's hypocrisy is stunning. Had it been the opposite, and Christians, Muslims and Jews had been pressing Mozilla to fire homosexuals because the practice runs counter to their faiths, would you have done so? Thought not... I am the IT Admin at our company, and approve and install software on all our machines. We have used Firefox for years as it is a superior browser to IE. I have today removed Firefox from my machine, will do so with all machines at home, and all the machines in our company. Please know, it is NOT because of support for lifestyles with which we disagree, but because your company has robbed a person of his fundamental rights to freedom of thought and free speech. We will likely switch to Chrome, whose company holds many of the same values as Mozilla, but as far as I know, has not deprived anyone of their livelihoods because they support a traditional value. Should Mozilla repent of this action and restore Mr. Eich to his position, and make a statement in support of freedom of thought and speech, we will likely return to using the browser. Until then, we will not support a company whose values on freedom of speech run counter to most of the country's. And as far as Pres. O is concerned, the whole world knows he lied out of expediency... At least Mr. Eich put his money where his mouth is, and stood fast to his principles. I'd take him over O as a CEO any day.
