Hi all,
The FAQ about Brendan's resignation has been updated and expanded.
https://blog.mozilla.org/blog/2014/04/05/faq-on-ceo-resignation/
Thanks for the update! This version is very clear and looks accurate to
my eye.
I'm sure it's also been wordsmithed extensively! But if there's any
scope for further changes, I suggest three minor tweaks:
The Mozilla Project is the overall umbrella for Mozilla's global
community, and as a community organization does not take stands on
issues outside the scope of theMozilla Manifesto
<http://www.mozilla.org/about/manifesto/>.
I tend to use the word "organization" to refer to the Foundation and
Corporation, so it confused me to see it referring to the Project in
this sentence. I would leave it out, replace it with "project", or
simply use a pronoun to refer to it:
The Mozilla Project is the overall umbrella for Mozilla's global
community, and it does not take stands on issues outside the scope of
the Mozilla Manifesto.
Everything from Mozilla's own Community Participation Guidelines
<http://www.mozilla.org/about/governance/policies/participation/>, to
employment law, to the Mozilla Mission mandates that employees and
community members can and should hold whatever beliefs they want.
The phrase "employees and community members" distinguishes those two
groups, although employees are also members of the community. I would
add "other" to the phrase to clarify: "employees and other community
members".
We are an organization made up of a global community of people with
widely diverse views coming together for a common shared goal:
protecting and building an open Web
<http://www.mozilla.org/about/manifesto/>.
Here again the meaning of the word "organization" is unclear. My mind
jumps to Foundation/Corporation, although presumably it means Project.
And I puzzle over the concept of an "organization made up of a...
community."
I would simplify this to the encompassing term "community":
We are a global community of people with widely diverse views coming
together for a common shared goal: protecting and building an open Web
<http://www.mozilla.org/about/manifesto/>.
