Jim, We just got this request today. I notice you want to receive the surveys and submit as one. Is that correct? When are you looking to get this compiled and sent?

Dan Hale, Russ and I had quite a kerfuffle with the study leads the last couple days over the process and timeline for this survey . Currently, only UNMC and UTHSCSA are listed as participating sites. We know that isn’t right, but we also know that the coordinating center hasn’t signed the data sharing agreement necessary for us to report data to them. If you look at the attached files there are two prep to research survey’s (Antibiotic and Bariatric). The answers are straightforward yes or no about CDM V3 capabilities. I believe we have all those in our plans so I think you can answer yes. Also, the protocols appear to be non-interventional retrospective data queries so we expect each site’s honest broker to release the final data to PCORnet. The big problem is generation of the counts to fill out the tables for the two studies (see the attached tables). Since we don’t have a signed data sharing agreement with PCORI my local solution was to run the counts and only give them approximations for our overall counts. Getting the subgroups was harder. So, last night, Hubert and I stayed up late and built queries for the various rows in the two tables. I’m hoping we can share the queries with each sites’ informatics group to make it easier to generate counts (Hubert will share the queries today.) So here is my recommendation (open for discussion of course.) 1) Russ will stay in touch with the PCORnet lead investigators (Chris Forrest and Dave Arterburn) 2) Each site that wants to participate submit the Prep to Research Survey to [email protected]<mailto:[email protected]> (and Dan Hale and myself) ASAP (today) so you have your toe in the door. 3) We’ll work on getting the counts from each site, send them to me, and I will compile a GPC-wide response to PCORnet. The response will depend on whether they sign the data sharing agreement or not. If not, I will aggregate the GPC counts without identifying individual sites. 4) Identify site investigators who would like to work with PCORnet central on refining the protocols. Let me know if that will work.
