Aha... I found this comment in my "fun with maps" work:

            # Puerto Rico has a "." for Median Age: Male (UEK002).
            # UMN folks say this signifies 'supressed'
            # though they're surprised it's there too.

Subject: trouble parsing household income from geo data

I'm trying to look at Median household income in
'acs_20135a/zcta_860/ge.00_file.dat.gz'. Variable B19013 has...

data_type n
start_column 16038
width 9

but when I look at that part of the line 91 of ge.00_file.dat, I get:

' .'

that is: 8 spaces and a period.

Is that syntax documented?

How does the MU code handle this case? I suppose the answer is somewhere in
populate_acs_20135a_tables.ktr<https://github.com/mcneeleyta/i2b2/blob/ACS_Census/Kettle/populate_acs_20135a_tables.ktr>
, but I don't have kettle installed on the machine where I'm working just now,
so I don't know how to read that .ktr file.
