Good afternoon Team,
Some of you may have seen the below email, but we wanted to alert all PEOs to an opportunity to get involved with the GPC Phase 1 Breast Cancer cohort's paper writing efforts. As you can see in the highlighted section below, the cohort leader, Dr. Betsy Chrischilles from U Iowa, is eager to involve patient advocates and patient perspective in the writing process. I did not receive the list of specific paper topics, but I can track them down for interested folks. If you or someone you know at your site would like to be involved, feel free to reach out to our lead patient, Cheryl Jernigan<mailto:[email protected]>, who is already involved with the group. Or you can contact me<mailto:[email protected]>, Kim<mailto:[email protected]>, or Hillary<mailto:[email protected]> from GPC Central to assist with a connection. Thanks, Sarah _____________________________________________ From: Chrischilles, Elizabeth A Sent: Friday, February 05, 2016 5:45 PM To: Subject: GPC Breast Cancer Group News Bulletin: Three important items you will want to review Colleagues - We have succeeded in compiling an initial list of 10 initial paper topics and 10 individuals who have committed to leading the writing team (attached). Each of these individuals either submitted the relevant item(s) for inclusion in the survey or provided substantial feedback and insight on those items. Please read 3 news important news items below: Item #1: What do I need to do and when in order to be on a writing team? As you will see in the attached document, most team leads have committed to sending in a draft paper prospectus by February 12. Read on to learn how to get on one of these teams or create a new one. 1. If you are interested in being part of a paper team you can either contact the team lead directly now (copy me please: [email protected]<mailto:[email protected]<mailto:[email protected]%3cmailto:[email protected]>> ) or wait until the draft prospectus is circulated for review. 2. You can also send me names for a paper topic that you don't see listed but that you would be interested in leading and I will get it added to the tracking list. 3. There will be at least a 2-week period after a draft prospectus is received for all GPC Breast Cancer Group members to review, provide input, and communicate to the team lead if it is something they would like to contribute to. A publications committee of 1 member per institution will review and signify whether they approve the writing project. Item #2: Team leaders, be sure to include one of our patient advocates on your writing team Note that the revised template for paper prospectuses (attached) contains a specific place to list a patient advocate. We have four patient advocates who are members of the GPC Breast Cancer Group who contributed to developing the survey and they may choose to contact the writing team lead directly. I will also work with Cheryl Jernigan to be sure we help make connections. Patients may be instrumental in writing how and why a particular topic is important to and impacts patients. Item #3: Upcoming meeting dates We have a recurring meeting on the second and fourth Tuesday every month at 1:00 and I will ask you to keep those on your calendars. We will hold the meeting if there is business (e.g. a prospectus to review, news about data, pilot grants) or otherwise cancel. If you have a grant idea you'd like collaborators for and would like to use one of these meeting times to discuss it, let Hillary Weedman or me know. The next meeting is confirmed for Tuesday February 9 at 1:00. This is exciting progress! Betsy
