Dear PEO team and PAC members, Sorry for the short notice, but with everything going on to plan a fantastic LEC event, the KUMC team neglected to cancel this PAC meeting. Have a happy free hour!!
Within the next few days, you'll all be receiving the final LEC agenda for Thursday and Friday, and of course we'll have copies at the event, too. Besides the agenda with the typical info like time, room location etc, we're putting together a short description of each session so that all of us can have better information about which sessions are most appropriate and of interest. We'll be hanging together as the full engagement team for part of the time, but throughout the LEC, we also want to encourage you to participate in other sessions (like the group meeting to talk about human subjects protections and Institutional Review Board issues or the group meeting to talk about the new GROUSE model that we'll be adopting with the inclusion of medical care payment information). I'm excited that we have 2 sessions to talk with the full team -- at the opening of the LEC on Thursday with guest Charlie Thompson from the iCAN project (check out this 6 minute video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MgUeEXM4_wo for more info). Charlie is our engagement guest speaker who will help us translate and learn from the success of youth engagement in iCAN to our GPC work together. The second session will be our Youth-led panel where leaders from Children's Mercy will address the team about their perspectives about research and data. (Amanda, Kelsey, Cheryl and I will be getting back with the youth panelists very soon with questions to think about for your contribution to the day.) I'll be writing separately to those of you who volunteered to be on the morning panel with Charlie and me facilitating -- that would be Jeff O, Augustine T and Nancy D -- did I get this right or did I forget someone else who volunteered? Please email me back asap if you'd like to be on the panel and I left your name off - forgive me! Thanks everyone -- can't wait to see you all in person very soon. Safe travels, and of course, be sure to let me, Cheryl or Hillary know if we can be of any assistance. Kim Kim S.
