Does RS sell what you want? The couple of things I checked on at Farnell had huge prices.

The only way to get web standards is to get web standards, not the present crap where everybody fudges the standards for commercial gain - are any major internet software companies not guilty of this??

I did E mail them with my protest. However I am only a small time hobbyist in electronics - I doubt that they would be worried about my busines too much. Their site was a vast improvement on their previous one and was good right up to the final ordering page. They have specialist components which are not available at the usual hobby shops.

This is common even in the commercial world.
I tried to order some electronic components thru Farnell, whose main *business* is online ordering. They admitted that the only browser that would work was IE and had no plans to upgrade to others - didnt see the business need.

Richard,

Similar problems exist with St George Internet banking. It does work with Firefox, but not with Linux anymore. A couple of years ago I convinced them for a while to keep it compliant, but then it stopped, I'm sure because they adopted the latest version of the MS technology on their site.

Making the web as proprietary as possible for MS only products has long been an MS objective, which must be resisted. Changing the bank where you have your home loan is a bit radical, but changing a components supplier isn't. Have you considered getting your stuff elsewhere and telling them why?
