Hi everyone I was wondering if any of you would
like to comment on this quote I saw this week: "Ninety-nine percent of the benefit
[of health IT] will come by internal use within health organizations. There will
be some marginal benefit of cross-organization data sharing, but by-and-large,
the concept of widespread interoperability at this time seems to be the product
of groupthink. Maybe in 20 years there will be significant benefit, but right
now we should be focused on implementing health IT within our own organizations
to improve the quality of care." --

in the January 2006 issue of the American Health Information Management
Association's Journal of AHIMA.
