Yep. Open source is what we need. But shareware might do as this will
be external to Argus.

Hi Ross,
I think you are looking for a printer driver that can convert a word doc
into text/xml file on the fly.
Try ..... Miraplacid Text Driver http://www.miraplacid.com/mtd/ -
commercial product thou, have not come across any open-source version
equivalent.
It works perfectly as part of the secure messaging trial between
GP's/Specialist @ North East Victoria Division of General Practice.
Eliminates the need of doing the manual cut and paste routine from
MS-Word/OpenOffice -> NotePad -> Secure Messaging System.
The developers will be happy to customise the apps to your specific
requirements ;-)
I'm not sure if that's what Ross wants Jerry. I'm not clear on what he
means by "focusing on".
Redmon is a pseudo printer driver for Windows that I considered using
for the same purpose that you are using Miraplacid.
(http://www.cs.wisc.edu/~ghost/redmon/) It's free and the source is
available but it is not an "open source" license as such.
I have yet to get around to testing it out, however.
