Thanks John.

For those that are interested, I've combined my MD / PS and Genie
scripts into something that will work for the majority of sites out of
the box:

http://www.ozdocit.org/tiki-index.php?page=backup+scripts

Snapshots the database/s, copies any number of shares, keeps a rolling
backup on hard disk (each day of the month), burns to DVD-+R or DVD-+RW
with the date as the title and verifies. Can be used for CDR or CDRW
with a small adjustment.

This is pretty primitive stuff, dictated by the comparatively useless
shell supplied by Windows. There are a number of decent shells like bash
that can run on Windows. The next step in this is to roll it into an
easy GUI and probably include bash to allow real flexibility.

In the meantime we customise it for each site, eg. deleting prior
backups from disk if required, adding other data like MYOB etc.

regards,
Peter.
