MDW2 makes a direct API call to Argus, using the program 'Diabetes
Transmission Utility.EXE'. It creates a fully-formed HL7 message, which
Argus sends encrypted with PKI.
When the HL7 message is received, Argus can be configured to convert the
HL7 data into a CSV file. This CSV file can be uploaded into CARDIAB.
Sorry Andrew,
I simplified the process a bit, omitting the HL7 aspect, which is
important, of course, as it contains the 'smarts' that allow the correct
data from MD to be identified at both ends. Otherwise we'd be back in
PIT land, where everything is just plain text, designed for reading and
interpretation by humans, not computers.
I'll say it again, we need to encourage GPs to be requesting HL7 format
results from their pathology providers, now most will provide it on
request. Less work for both GPs and Divisions.
