I mistyped - much easier to type 'GP' than 'doctor'.
Let's try again: how does a GP exchange letters with a small specialist
practice? In the NEHTA model, at least one side of every transaction
must host a server from whence others can retrieve their data.
My question: who hosts the server, the GP or the specialist? And who
pays for the privilege of maintaining the infrastructure in that practice?

2. How do they propose to accommodate GP to GP communication? Which
GP gets the honour of maintaining a Web Server in their practice? Oh
sorry, did you say that EVERY practice will maintain a Web Server so
that it can be a producer, not just a consumer of data?
Andrew,
GP to GP communication has never been the focus, except within
practices, which is different. Mostly GPs talk to other levels in the
care system - specialists, allied health providers and hospitals.
