Hi Horst,
 
I understand there is an ISO Standard that addresses health cards in some depth to achieve this. Would be good if our Medicare Smartcard - if it ever happens - was made compliant as well. I am also told the UK ID card is planned to be compliant to allow UK citizens to access care in Europe which now requires a special bit of paper or visa of some sort.
