I need to buy a new notebook very soon as my 12" iBook will be passed on to a new employee.
I'm only interested in small varieties as I lug it around all day.

I think a Powerbook 12" is almost perfect. The only additions I'd welcome would be a PC Card slot (important) and an illuminated keyboard like it's bigger brothers (not so important).

However I'm reluctant to spend good money on a G4 processor that is now 2 generations old, having seen how fast the Intel Macs run (at least Apple software). I also be pissed off that the battery performance is not as good as the Intel Powerbook.

If I had any idea how far away the 13.1" iBooks were, I could be persuaded to wait for these. This would appear my only Intel option as it seems Apple won't be making a 12" Intel Powerbook and the 15.4" is too big for me.

Damn Apple for making this change now. They should have swallowed their pride and done it when they released OSX, instead of lying for years about speed comparisons.

A PC notebook is not an option, I have several of those but having been spoiled by the Macs superior umm just about everything I won't be going back. I remain a PC user on the desktop and the server, just not on the road.

cheers,
Peter.
