we got vmworkstation working under ubuntu on a nice fast box ( dual core athlon 4400+) and then got microsoft to give us the codes to put windows2000 server in the virtual environment, ( as we were replacing existing hardware) but couldn't get sufficient speed on Pracsoft and Best Practice running in a terminal server environment - so we have gone over to Winconnect Server XP on that box.

It would have been great if we had been able to tweak it to run fast enough but just didn't know enough about how to do that

Do people think virtualisation is an important option for healthcare?

Would you run a couple of virtual platforms on your desktop or server?

I am interested as I think it may change the way we deliver healthcare
IT by having secure and not so secure virtual platforms running
simultaneously.

Hi George

You see more and more data centres offering virtual servers under Xen.
This appeals to application service providers and NEHTA tells us that
they are the future for Australian medical practice. It is therefore
relevant to us.

Cheers.
