Wrong on both accounts.
It is a video, so you would need either flash or a standard video format to 
display it in a browser. Flash is unfortunately the most common embedded 
video format for any browser

There is a choice of Flash players for Linux, both free and non-free, both 
embeddable and standalone. In my favourite distro, Kanotix 
(http://www.kanotix.org) it is pre-installed and pre-configured in Firefox, 
but if you use Debian Linux just search http://apt-get.org  for Debian 
packages containing flash players
