Thanks, Chris. This is what I was trying to discuss and learn about. If I diagnose the patient (or somebody else diagnoses him or her, and I agree with that diagnosis) as having borderline personality disorder, I believe that it is important to find a supportive and helpful way to explain to the patient what we mean by that, to help the patient to find ways to function as well as possible, to avoid or handle crises as well possible, and to help the patient to pick up the pieces after any crises that occur.

The fact sheet on the SANE Website is very good.  I will use it.
