Absolutely Hugh, I hate hypocrisy in any shape or form, its very existence
concerns me hugely. It was Ross' continued inference that he runs some kind of
philanthropic organisation and that Entrepreneurship is Evil that hit a raw
nerve. When in when in fact, Argus is bankrolled by and directed by one of the
most entrepreneurial (and highly respected for it) firms in Australasian
Healthcare. Try Googling Sonic Healthcare /Entrepreneur and you get
approximately 89,000 results! As my esteemed colleague Gavan Lim Joon points
out, it is time to set the myth of the philanthropic Argus completely to rest,
now, once and for all!
I was proposing a very practical model, that is tried and proven in the U.S., - Ross Davy
I believe IHE is very effective for ensuring system interoperability and its Connectathons are an ideal way to progress that, however for the very reasons Tim has pointed out, the messaging concepts Ross referred to are a 'dead duck'. Furthermore I can see no evidence of it being 'a practical model, tried and proven', this is just more spin and wool being pulled over our eyes by a master of the art.
Putting aside Tom's stooping to personal attack, ridicule and gross
misinterpretation, I would like to point out that it would seem that my
presentation at the HL7 workshop has had an affect that the organisers
intended when they asked me present a dissenting view..

Over the past number of emails, there has been more 'public' open debate
on this list-server regarding the merits and otherwise of the various
SOA messaging models than has happened in all the period prior to now.
This is all very positive and I hope that NeHTA takes note. Open debate
(providing it is constructive and civil) will tease out a better outcome.

I say let us keep the discussion going.

(And to clarify things for all about Argus. ArgusConnect directed by
the Health OpenWare Foundation will conform with whatever model finally
emerges as the best and endorsed model by all the community and by
NeHTA. We are not wedded to SMTP/POP nor IHE XDS technology, but we do
want to explore the pros and cons of the options before jumping in.)
