GPs might use the system with the same argument about arrogance and legal liability if interaction warning
was turned off : - "GP dares to defy government independent authority on drug interactions and patient suffers easily prevented
serious drug interaction . GP ingnored NPS notification that NPS drug interaction warning system shown to be significantly
better than propriety drug interaction system :" etc etc ... and get the mass hysteria media channel 7 , 10 or 9 onto it.

We all have interests, even Dr Phillips.
He has a point, but some of his arguments are spurious, and he fails to
draw a comparison between:
1. prescribing manually with a paper Mims somewhere around,
2. a GPs 'best' information about interactions coming from the various
drug reps he/she sees, or
3. having one of the software packages popping up warnings.

Most doctors have only experience of one package, so this is fanciful.

A lot of this is doctor ignorance in the use of their software, or
arrogance in believing they know better.
I'd hate to be GP who had to face a lawsuit based on inappropriate
prescribing if he'd turned off his interaction warnings.
But I have to agree that prescribing is a bit of a lottery. Banning drug
reps would help.
I wonder how he'll get GPs to use their system?
