Is the disparate nature of hospital systems (or any system) a moot point as we move towards a service orientated architecture (SOA). I had the impression that as long as web services exist at each portal of this loosely coupled network, the exchange of health information can occur unabated. Adhering to a standardised messaging format and content is an issue of itself.
