Thanks Peter, Got it going in reverse from surgery to home after enabling access port 22 on firewall at home. Thus it would seem to be an inability to open 22 at surgery. Will work on that.

Is there a firewall on the host machine, preventing 22 from coming in from the Internet? Use multiples of -v for verbose info eg. $ ssh -v -v [EMAIL PROTECTED] should give you more than enough to debug.
