The good news will come when we have GP systems which are SNOMED CT enabled and can then inter-operate with others better as well as provide better clinical information recording etc.
This is the first step in a very long journey and you wont see an Australianised and Australian useful version available for a year or two yet.
You probably don't know but NEHTA got the final business case to adopt SNOMED a little over a year ago and got funding from COAG in Feb, 2006. So we are not moving at lighting speed..but certainly its progress.
I will be celebrating when SNOMED is in routine use in GP, specialist and hospital practice - and I won't be holding my breath.
