I need to correct my comments in my previous email. NOw that I have read
the "license" it is not the license agreement. It is more a public
statement about license arrangments. It is titled "Australia's interim
license agreement for SNOMED clinical terms -Industry Overvew, 17 July
2006". It is two pages long and gives a general story about what is and
isn't provided. There is only one statement that jumps up at me and that
is "NEHTA also has rights to: ...
create, link and distribute subset tags, identifiers, and relationships to
other works, provided the SNOMED CT core is not changed and the tags,
identifiers and additions are made publicly available"
The item of interest for me is "not changed" and its intended scope -I
expect that we(USyd) would be experimenting with all manner of aspects
about changing SCT and prohibiting that would seem to be counter
productive.
cheers
jon
