I use Virgin mobile prepaid. A @ 29.95 card gets you $20 top-up usage each month for 5 months ($100 call value for $29.95 - I never get to use it all up anyway). After 6 months you forfeit any remaining credits unless you top up. But I don't - I discard the SIM card and register a new one - benefit is that if any pest has learned the mobile phone number in the meantime (fat chance) - it is gone after these 5 months and I get a new number. Virgin mobile belongs to Optus now, uses the Optus network, but is considerably cheaper per call and per SMS That way, <$5/month cover all my mobile phone needs just fine. Any cheaper ways I don't know of yet?? If not, I might buy a few more of these 29.95 packs, who knows how long the offer will last. These packages are not time bombed.
