The fundamental problem is that networks are complicated beasts. Making sure everything is centralised and backed up is hard work.

Ultimately, it is a practice responsibility to make sure everything that is meant to happen happens. We had problems when the practice manager's computer hard drive went down and some things that were assumed to be stored on a network drive weren't.

 Thin clients reduce the risk of problems.
