If you have learnt Python, you can "learn" Ruby in less than one weekend and 
viceversa - some 90% are almost interchangeable

If you have learnt a dozen or so different languages, you might even *master* 
Ruby in a weekend.

I will still continue to write all my system administrationscripts that are 
too complex for bash scripting in Python - mainly because I can trust the 
assumptions that on all the computers I have to deal with Python is already 
installed
