Very good question Liz, the logs are full of these:

Just to further qualify this, in one day (yesterday) we successfully sent 34 messages to Telstra. They went through after timing out 2330 times.

Total timeouts from all other ISPs combined on the same day - 16.

This was Telstra's worst day in logged history, the numbers are not usual, but they do consistently fail more than any other mail server.

My point is that if you need to receive e-mail and you are with Telstra you should reconsider your choice of ISP.
